Amba Bar & Grill

Wow, been a busy couple of weeks of holidays and weekend breaks.. now back in London again and went to Amba Bar & Grill in the very chic Mayfair Hotel http://www.themayfairhotel.co.uk/home for dinner with my friend Iolanda.

We booked a 2-4-1 deal on toptable for 6:30pm.. it was a little bit quiet in the restaurant but that was no problem for us since we were having a catch up.
We had a wonderful waiter who couldn't do enough for us.. he for example overheard my friend saying that she really liked the cheesy breadsticks in the bread basket... and he immediatley came back with a plate of additional sticks! Sweet!

So, about the food.. i thought the food was really good.. i went for a "Cream of cauliflower soup, almond, sage and cumin oil" which was lovely, not too thick and not too thin.. perfect. My friend went for the "spring risotto with courgettes and parmesan" which looked amazing.

We followed that with "Pan-fried sea trout on crushed potatoes with shrimps, broccoli and peas" for me (nice) and "Sea bass with sweet potato, samphire, cauliflower and lemon butter" for Iolanda which i think she enjoyed too! We were too full for dessert.. even though the Rhubarb pannacotta with shortbread and toffee/caramel ice cream did sound amazing.. We had a virtuous fresh mint tea instead (on the house - thank you waiter)

I would definately recommend this restaurant - our bill came to £18 per person including tips which is excellent (we only had sparkling water with the meal).
